This 5 Session Program covers the following items as part of step-by-step loose leash walking development:

Lesson One: Before the Walk 

• Gearing Up Manners; waiting politely for leash and collar, etc.

• Go to Heel; establishing correct walking position

• Reminders; establishing positive associations with leash communication

• Getting Out the Door; exiting politely and waiting for you to lock up

• Leave It (or client's choice of command)

Lesson Two: Starting Out

​In addition to the previous lesson's content.

• Checking In; wait politely, check in before departure

• Expectations for stairs (if applicable)

• The Loose Leash Starts Here; right from the beginning

• Introduction of Direction Changes

Lesson Three: Close to Home

​In addition to the previous lesson's content.

• Loose Leash Strategies & Communications 

• Introducing S&S (stop and sit)

• Continued Development; Leave It, Leash Communication

Lesson Four: Away We Go 
** You may choose to have the lesson at our facility where you drop off/pick up, or you can choose to have the lesson remain in your neighborhood, whichever is preferable! 
 

• Practicing in an unfamiliar environment (if you choose our facility and grounds)

• Reinforcing all other learned material, regardless of location

Lesson Five: The Keys to the Walk (Client Lesson)

• We run you through everything we've been working on, and hand over the Keys to the Walk!
